Baseball Recap: Freedom Area Extends Winning Streak to Three

Freedom Area had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 7.5 runs) and they went ahead and made it three on Tuesday. They were the clear victors by an 11-1 margin over the Northgate Flames. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 14-0 last Monday.

Boden Hilliard was a major factor no matter where he played. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out ten over five innings pitched. That's the most strikeouts he has posted since back in April of 2024. He was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run and stealing a base while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances. That stolen base marked the first that he snagged this season.

In other batting news, Freedom Area let Tommy Ward and Mason O'Donnell run wild. Ward scored three runs and stole two bases while going 2-for-4, while O'Donnell scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-3. O'Donnell also put up a double, which was his first of the season. Anthony Taddeo was another key player, scoring a run while going 1-for-2.

Freedom Area always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .538. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Northgate only posted an OBP of .136.

Freedom Area's record now sits at 3-1. As for Northgate, their loss was their 13th straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 1-5.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Freedom Area will face off against Quaker Valley at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Freedom Area's pitchers better be ready for this one: Quaker Valley has averaged an impressive 12 runs per game this season. As for Northgate, they will square off against Hillel Academy at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
