Basketball Recap: Suwannee Bulldogs vs. Hilliard Red Flashes
Suwannee lost against Hilliard back in December of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Monday. The Suwannee Bulldogs lost 74-49 to the Hilliard Red Flashes. While losing is never fun, the Bulldogs can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 451st, while the Red Flashes are ranked 182nd).
Leading Hilliard to victory were Ta'Veon Dunbar and Cj Hall. Dunbar went 6 of 9 from beyond the arc en route to 28 points and six rebounds, while Hall went 7 for 10 on his way to 20 points and six assists. Hall's evening made it seven games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of King McMillan, who posted 11 points and three blocks.
Suwannee has traveled a rocky road recently having lost nine of their last 12 games, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-11 record this season. As for Hilliard, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 11-4.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Suwannee will venture away from home to challenge P.K. Yonge at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Hilliard, they will head out on the road to square off against Branford at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Hilliard knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past eight matchups -- so hopefully Branford likes a good challenge.
