Softball Recap: Montello Comes Up Short

Montello was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their tenth straight defeat dating back to last season. They lost 18-8 to Rio/Fall River.

Geneva Hunter stepped up to lead a balanced group of hitters: she went a perfect 3-for-3 with four RBI, two doubles, and one triple. Another player making a difference was Kyla Calnin, who went 2-for-3 with three stolen bases, two runs, and one triple.

Montello's loss dropped their record down to 0-3. As for Rio/Fall River, their record now sits at 2-0.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Montello will take on Westfield Area in a tournament on Saturday. As for Rio/Fall River, they will venture away from home to square off against Randolph at 5:00 p.m. on Monday.
