Baseball Recap: Cotulla Comes Up Short

Cotulla extended their losing streak to four on Tuesday, dropping them down to 3-17-1. They lost 9-1 to the Dilley Wolves. The Cowboys were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Wolves apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in April of 2025.

TJ Garcia was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he pitched five innings while giving up just two earned (and three unearned) runs off five hits.

On the hitting side, Robert Pereles was cooking despite his team's loss, going 2-for-3 with two stolen bases and one RBI.

As for Dilley, the victory snapped their losing streak at nine games and leaves them with a 3-10 record. Their hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.

On Dilley's side, Gunner McClain was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two stolen bases, three RBI, and one run. That's the most hits McClain has posted since back in April of 2025. The team also got some help courtesy of Andre Lozano, who went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI.

We've got plenty of inter-district action coming up soon. Cotulla will take on rival Hondo at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Meanwhile, Dilley is set to square off against their familiar foe Crystal City at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.
