Recap: Baptist Hill Bobcats vs. Cross Trojans

The Baptist Hill Bobcats lost against the Cross Trojans back in January, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. Baptist Hill fell just short of Cross by a score of 51-49. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Baptist Hill in their matchups with Cross: they've now lost nine in a row.

Baptist Hill's loss came despite strong showings from Shaniah Townsend and Malaya Hill. Townsend scored 20 points along with five rebounds and two steals, while Hill scored seven points along with seven assists and six steals. Hill is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last 13 games she's played. Sharice Blufton was another key contributor, scoring six points along with six assists and three steals.

Even though they lost, Baptist Hill were working as a unit and finished the game with 17 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.

Cross' win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Lauren Middleton, who scored 14 points. Another player making a difference was Ma'Laysia Johnson, who scored 14 points.

Baptist Hill's defeat dropped their record down to 4-10. As for Cross, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven contests, which provided a nice bump to their 13-3 record this season.

Baptist Hill will head out on the road to face off against St. John's at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. St. John's has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games. As for Cross, they will head out on the road to square off against Burke at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Burke will roll in looking for their fifth straight win, something Cross surely won't give up without a fight.
