Soccer Game Preview: Druid Hills vs. Marist

The Druid Hills Red Devils will square off against the Marist War Eagles at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Druid Hills' defense has only allowed 0.5 goals per game this season, so Marist's offense will have their work cut out for them.

Druid Hills is probably headed into the matchup with a chip on their shoulder considering Northview just ended the team's seven-game winning streak on Thursday. While the 1-1 score might suggest a draw, it was the Titans who were credited with the win. Northview got it done in the shootout by posting four goals to Druid Hills' three. Druid Hills were red-hot offensively heading into the contest (they scored no less than four goals in the four games prior), but Northview's defense proved too tough.

Druid Hills will be up against a hot Marist squad: the team just extended their winning streak to seven. Marist's defense stepped up to hand Clarkston a 10-0 shutout on Friday. Marist might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won five matchups by eight goals or more this season.

Marist's victory was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 7-2. The wins came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only given up two goals over those five contests. As for Druid Hills, their defeat was their first in the region, dropping their region record down to 5-1 and their overall record down to 9-2.

Druid Hills suffered a grim 10-0 defeat to Marist in their previous meeting back in March of 2022. Can Druid Hills avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
