Softball Recap: Freeburg Has No Trouble Against East Alton-Wood River

Freeburg won the last time they faced East Alton-Wood River and things went their way on Monday too. The Midgets blew past the Oilers 14-5. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Midgets.

The team relied heavily on Olivia Joseph, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with five runs, two stolen bases, and one triple. Those five runs gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Kylie Whitten, who went 2-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and two doubles.

The victory got Freeburg back to even at 9-9. As for East Alton-Wood River, they dropped their record down to 8-11 with the loss, which was their fifth straight at home.

Coming up, Freeburg will take on Roxana at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Midgets are facing the Shells at the right time seeing as the Shells are stuck on a 15-game losing streak. As for East Alton-Wood River, they will face off against Breese Central at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Cougars have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 10.3 runs per game on average), something the Oilers will no doubt try to take advantage of.
