Baseball Recap: Ravena-Coeymans-Selkirk Wins Going Away Against Voorheesville

Ravena-Coeymans-Selkirk never got on the board in their matchup last Thursday, but that sure wasn't the case in their game against Voorheesville on Tuesday. They put the hurt on the Blackbirds with a sharp 10-1 victory. The win continues a trend for the Ravens in their matchups with the Blackbirds: they've now won five in a row.

Dom Labella made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he struck out 14 batters over 6.1 innings while giving up just one earned run off one hit. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't tossed less than seven strikeouts in three consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with one double and one RBI. That's the most hits he has posted over his last ten contests.

In other batting news, Gavin Lochner was incredible, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with three runs, one stolen base, and one double. Those three runs gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Joseph Latter, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.

Ravena-Coeymans-Selkirk hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Voorheesville struck out 15 times.

Ravena-Coeymans-Selkirk now has a winning record of 8-7. As for Voorheesville, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost six of their last seven matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-11-1 record this season.

Ravena-Coeymans-Selkirk and Voorheesville could both be facing uphill battles in their next games considering their disadvantage in the MaxPreps New York Rankings. The Ravens (ranked 313th) will meet Ichabod Crane (ranked 25th) at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. Meanwhile, Voorheesville will square off against Schalmont at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday with a big rank disadvantage (466 vs. 208).
