Softball Recap: Whitko's Victory on Saturday Extends Winning Streak to Three

Whitko extended their winning streak to three on Saturday, bumping their season record up to 15-5 in the process. They skirted past the Heritage Patriots 7-5. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Wildcats have posted against the Patriots since May 16, 2015.

Cassidy Skinner made a big impact no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out seven batters over 6.2 innings while giving up just two earned (and three unearned) runs off eight hits. Skinner was even better at the plate, going 2-for-4 with one home run and two RBI.

In other batting news, Kaylee Adkins was incredible, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run and one double. Isabelle Harman also deserves some recognition as she hit her first double of the season.

Whitko hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team has now struck out at least five batters in seven consecutive matchups.

As for Heritage, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost four of their last five games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 13-9 record this season. That's two games in a row now that they have lost by exactly two runs.

On Heritage's side, Abriyah James was cooking despite her team's loss, going 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Lucy Buuck, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.

Coming up, Whitko will venture away from home to face off against Rochester at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Wildcats 3.6, the Zebras 4) so any runs scored will be well earned. As for Heritage, they will welcome Woodlan at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
