Basketball Recap: Sanderson's Luck Changes for the Better on Tuesday

Sanderson needed a changed in momentum after dropping 20 straight games and they got it from Idah Ongwacho. The Sanderson Spartans took down the Enloe Eagles 45-26 on Tuesday thanks in part to Ongwacho, who posted 12 points along with seven boards and four steals. The dominant performance gave her a new career-high in points.

Sanderson's first win this season bumped their record up to 1-16. As for Enloe, they dropped their record down to 1-18 with the loss, which was their 21st straight on the road dating back to last season.

Sanderson and Enloe could both be facing uphill battles in their next games considering their disadvantage in the MaxPreps North Carolina Rankings. Sanderson (ranked 539th) will meet Broughton (ranked 179th) at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Sanderson has given up an average of 58.1 points per game this season, so hopefully the team got some defensive drills in this week. Meanwhile, Enloe will square off against Athens Drive at 6:00 p.m. on Friday down 344 places (537 vs. 193).
