Recap: Rootstown Rovers vs. Crestwood Red Devils
The Rootstown Rovers's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Wednesday after their third straight loss. They took a hard 55-40 fall against Crestwood. While losing is never fun, Rootstown can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 605th, while Crestwood is ranked 110th).
Crestwood got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Brody Durham out in front who scored 19 points along with five assists and three steals. That's the first time this season that Durham scored 15 or more points. Another player making a difference was Charlie Schweickert, who scored 11 points along with five rebounds and three steals.
Rootstown has been struggling recently, as they've lost four of their last five games, which put a noticeable dent in their 2-5 record this season. As for Crestwood, the win for they keeps them at an undefeated 7-0.
Rootstown will head out on the road to face off against Southeast at 6:45 p.m. on January 5, 2024. Crestwood will finish 2023 at home by hosting LaBrae at 3:15 p.m. on Saturday. LaBrae has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 348 points over their last five games.
