Basketball Recap: Sayre Comes Up Short

Sayre suffered their closest defeat since December 5, 2024 on Thursday. They fell just short of the Walton-Verona Bearcats by a score of 62-60. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game last Monday (57), the Spartans still had to take the loss.

Sayre's loss dropped their record down to 16-11. As for Walton-Verona, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 19-11 record this season.

Sayre has already played their next game, an 83-48 victory against Scott County on the 24th. As for Walton-Verona, they will take on Grant County at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Walton-Verona is facing Grant County at the right time seeing as Grant County is stuck on an eight-game losing streak.
