Preview: Princeton Tigers vs. Bluefield Beavers
The Princeton Tigers will head out on the road to face off against the Bluefield Beavers at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Princeton will be coming into the matchup with an undefeated record on the line.
On Friday, Princeton's game was all tied up 21-21 at the half, but luckily for them it didn't stay that way. They were the clear victor by a 50-29 margin over Graham. Given Princeton's advantage in MaxPreps's basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 14th in West Virginia, while Graham is ranked 264th in Virginia), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Princeton's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Maddie Stull, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and 13 rebounds. Stull also grabbed two+ steals for the first time this season. Kalee Wright was another key contributor, scoring 15 points along with seven rebounds and three steals.
Meanwhile, Bluefield pushed their score all the way to 55 back in November, but even that wasn't enough to win. They took a 63-55 hit to the loss column at the hands of PikeView. Bluefield has not had much luck with PikeView recently, as the team's come up short the last eight times they've met.
Princeton pushed their record up to 5-0 with that victory, which was their third straight on the road. As for Bluefield, their loss dropped their record down to 1-1.
Princeton couldn't quite finish off Bluefield in their previous matchup back in February and fell 41-39. Can Princeton avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
