Baseball Recap: Durant Drops Highest Score of Season Against Spoto

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Durant). They were the clear victor by an 11-0 margin over the Spoto Spartans on Tuesday. The victory continues a trend for the Cougars in their matchups with the Spartans: they've now won five in a row.

Dylan Hotz looked comfortable as he pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in strikeouts (four).

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Brady Kelley, who went 2-for-3 with four RBI, one triple, and one run. Those four RBI gave him a new career-high. Brantley Hayward was another key player, scoring two runs while going 1-for-1.

Durant was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .429. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their batting average total in three consecutive contests.

Durant's win bumped their record up to 6-3. As for Spoto, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 6-5.

Coming up, Durant is taking a road trip to take on Alonso at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average, (Alonso 2.6, Durant 4) so any runs scored will be well earned. As for Spoto, they will welcome Hillsborough at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Spoto is facing Hillsborough at the right time seeing as Hillsborough is stuck on a five-game losing streak.
