It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Whiteville had no problem doing just that on Friday. They breezed by the Kinston Vikings to the tune of 48-21. Considering the Wolfpack have won ten contests by more than 26 points this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.
Kinston lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Tyler Jones, who threw for 344 yards and two touchdowns. That's the most passing yards Jones has posted since back in September. Tyreek Copper was Jones' top target, picking up 168 receiving yards and one touchdown.
Whiteville pushed their record up to 13-1 with the victory, which was their 14th straight at home dating back to last season. The wins came thanks to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 13.4 points per game. As for Kinston, with the loss, they broke their four-game winning streak and moved their record to 9-5.
Whiteville will venture away from home to challenge Northeastern at 7:00 p.m. on December 13th. Northeastern will roll in looking for their 15th straight win, something Whiteville surely won't give up without a fight. Kinston does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
