Baseball Recap: Bacon Academy Victorious

Bacon Academy took a ten-run loss the last time they faced off against Waterford, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Bobcats sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 5-3 victory over the Lancers on Thursday. The game was the first time the Bobcats have beaten the Lancers on their field since April 28, 2022.

JT Eisenberg tossed a big game, pitching five innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off seven hits. He has become a key player for Bacon Academy: the team is undefeated when he allows at most one earned run, but 1-2 otherwise.

On the hitting side, Nick Gilman was excellent, going 3-for-4 with one run and one RBI. Those three hits gave him a new career-high. Lucas Jones also deserves some recognition as he got his first hit of the season.

Bacon Academy is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 5-2 record this season. As for Waterford, their defeat dropped their record down to 6-2.

Coming up, Bacon Academy will host Woodstock Academy at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. As for Waterford, they will head out on the road to square off against Plainfield at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday.
