Football Recap: Western Comes Up Short + How To Watch

Friday just wasn't the day for Western's offense. They had to suffer through a 56-0 loss at the hands of the Chaminade-Madonna Lions. Having soared to a lofty 72 points in the game before, the Wildcats' shutout was a dramatic turnaround.

Chaminade-Madonna found their leader in freshman Malik Leonard, who threw for 435 yards and five TDs while completing 86.7% of his passes. Those five passing touchdowns set a new season-high mark for Leonard. Jasen Lopez was Leonard's top target, picking up 118 receiving yards and one score.

Western's defeat dropped their record down to 1-4. As for Chaminade-Madonna, the win (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 4-1.

Looking ahead, Western is taking a road trip to square off against West Boca Raton at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. The Bulls' defense has only allowed 6.8 points per game this season, so the Wildcats' offense will have their work cut out for them. As for Chaminade-Madonna, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Monarch at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
