Baseball Recap: Mount Michael Benedictine Triumphs

Mount Michael Benedictine was not the first on the board on Tuesday, but they got there more often. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the Wayne Blue Devils, sneaking past 2-1. For the Knights, this counts as revenge for the 4-2 win the Blue Devils walked away with the last time they faced one another back in March of 2017.

Kyle Oldehoeft spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned run on four hits. He has become a key player for Mount Michael Benedictine: the team is 2-1 when he allows at most two earned runs, but 2-5 otherwise.

On the hitting side, JJ Stiles was excellent, scoring a run and stealing a base while getting on base in all three of his plate appearances.

Mount Michael Benedictine's record is now 4-6. As for Wayne, their loss dropped their record down to 7-5.

Coming up, Mount Michael Benedictine will challenge Lincoln Lutheran at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. The Warriors will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more runs each matchup than the last. As for Wayne, they will take on St. Paul/Palmer at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday.
