League recap: Wilmot's Schmidt delivers best pitching performance from past week

Southern Lakes' top pitcher this week was Wilmot's Chaz Schmidt. Over the past week, he had one win and 14 Ks.

With a big week, the Panthers jumped into the top 25 in the state rankings. Wilmot moved up from No. 26 in the state all the way to No. 25 thanks to a 2-1 record over the past week. Led by manager Josh Pye, the Panthers are ranked No. 4,327 in the nation with an overall record of 12-7.

After surrendering only five walks in the past week, Wilmot remains No. 1 in the league in that category for the season, with just 36 total.

There were four hitters that batted over .400 in the league this week. Leading the pack was Nicholas Heniff, who hit 1.000 by going 3-for-3.

The Panthers' Schmidt led the league in strikeouts this week with 14. With 44 strikeouts this year so far, he ranks second in the league.



Schmidt led Wilmot to a win on May 23, as he notched 14 strikeouts to beat Case, 5-0. Over his seven innings pitched he allowed zero runs on four hits.
