Baseball Recap: Saturday's Win Is Nogales' Seventh in Last Eight Outings

It may have taken eight innings to finish the job, but Nogales ultimately got the result they hoped for on Saturday. They won by a run and slipped past the Desert View Jaguars 2-1. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last four times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.

Denzel Montijo made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he struck out nine batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. Those nine strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also solid in the batter's box, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one RBI.

Nogales has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 18-8-1 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.8 runs on average over those games. As for Desert View, their defeat dropped their record down to 17-10.

As of now, neither Nogales nor the Jaguars have any future games scheduled.
