Recap: Lake Marion Gators vs. Cross Trojans

After flying high against the Scott's Branch Eagles on Tuesday, the Lake Marion Gators came back down to earth. Lake Marion ended up on the wrong side of a tough 54-30 walloping at the hands of Cross on Friday. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Lake Marion has scored all season.

Lake Marion struggled to work together and finished the game with only four assists. They were crushed by their opponents in that department as Cross racked up 13 assists.

Cross got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Lauren Middleton out in front who scored 17 points along with seven assists and six rebounds. That makes it five consecutive games in which Middleton has scored at least 25% of Cross' points. Diamonique Nelson was another key contributor, scoring 14 points along with six rebounds and four steals.

Lake Marion's defeat dropped their record down to 3-2. As for Cross, the victory for they keeps them at an undefeated 5-0.

Lake Marion won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Orangeburg-Wilkinson at 6:00 p.m. on December 9th. Orangeburg-Wilkinson is looking to tack on another W to their four-game streak on the road. As for Cross, they will face off against Timberland at 6:30 p.m. on Monday. Timberland will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps South Carolina Rankings (they are ranked 143rd, while Cross is ranked 21st).
