Basketball Recap: Jaylon Hopson Leads a Balanced Attack to Beat PURE Academy

On Thursday, the Memphis Business Academy Execs earned a 69-57 win over the PURE Academy Athletes. Given the Execs' advantage in MaxPreps' Tennessee basketball rankings (they are ranked 139th, while the Athletes are ranked 297th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Memphis Business Academy's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Jaylon Hopson, who went 12 of 15 on his way to 26 points and eight rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Teryck White, who dropped a double-double on 20 points and ten boards.

The victory got Memphis Business Academy back to even at 4-4. As for PURE Academy, they are on a six-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 0-6.

Memphis Business Academy won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against Crosstown at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. One thing working in Memphis Business Academy's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last three games. As for PURE Academy, they will also get right back to it: they'll challenge Jonesboro at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Jonesboro will roll in looking for their eighth straight win, something PURE Academy surely won't give up without a fight.
