The Papillion-LaVista Monarchs and the Omaha South Packers will round out the year against one another at at 8:30 a.m. on Monday. Papillion-LaVista is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 56 points per game this season.
On Saturday, Papillion-LaVista came up short against Omaha North and fell 63-52.

Despite the defeat, Papillion-LaVista had strong showings from Garin Maley, who posted seven points and ten rebounds, and Cedric Williams, who had 14 points. That's the most rebounds Maley has posted since back in January. The team also got some help courtesy of Preston Avalon, who went 5 of 9 on his way to 11 points and five rebounds.
Even though they lost, Papillion-LaVista smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 12 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive boards in six consecutive contests.
Meanwhile, Omaha South also suffered a loss in their last game, but this one to Bellevue East by a score of 64-57. The Packers have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Papillion-LaVista will have to contain Lou Hodoly as he made an impact in Omaha South's last game. He shot 5-for-9 from beyond the arc and dropped a double-double on 22 points and 11 boards. The team also got some help courtesy of Mar Cantu, who put up ten points.
Omaha South's loss dropped their record down to 3-5. As for Papillion-LaVista, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-4.
Some high-performance offense is likely on the agenda as both are some of the highest scoring teams in the league. Papillion-LaVista hasn't had any problem running up the score this season, having averaged 56 points per game. However, it's not like Omaha South struggles in that department as they've been averaging 62.5 points. With both teams so easily able to put up points, the only question left is who can run the score up higher.
Papillion-LaVista strolled past Omaha South in their previous matchup back in January by a score of 74-59. Does Papillion-LaVista have another victory up their sleeve, or will Omaha South turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
