Softball Recap: Mercer County Comes Up Short

If Mercer County was feeling good fresh off their 18-6 takedown of Southwestern on Friday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. Mercer County took a 12-9 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Frederick Douglass Broncos on Saturday. The Titans were not able to make up for their loss to the Broncos from their previous meeting back in May of 2023.

Jaley Bowman was cooking despite her team's loss, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-5. Bowman is crushing it when it comes to stolen bases: she's snagged at least one every time she's taken the field this season. Mia Floro also deserves some recognition as she hit her first double of the season.

The defeat was their first on the road , dropping their record down to 2-2. As for Frederick Douglass, the win got them back to even at 2-2.

Looking ahead, Mercer County will face off against Highlands at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday. As for Frederick Douglass, they will take on Mercer County at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday.
