Softball Recap: Campbell Comes Up Short

Campbell dropped their record down to 6-9 on Tuesday, which also ended the team's three-game streak of wins on the road. They came up short against the Oyster River Bobcats, falling 14-2. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against Oyster River this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 4-3 back in April.

As for Oyster River, the victory was the fifth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 17-3-1. The result was nothing new for the Bobcats, who have now won 13 games by seven runs or more so far this season.

For Oyster River's part, Kaiya Mercier was a standout: she went 2-for-3 with three runs, two doubles, and one RBI. Those two doubles gave Mercier a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Kate Michaud, who went 3-for-4 with two runs, one double, and one RBI.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Campbell will host Pelham at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Pythons have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 9.25 runs per game on average), something Campbell will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Oyster River, they will look to defend their home field on Wednesday against Sanborn Regional at 4:30 p.m. The Indians will roll in looking for their eighth straight win, something the Bobcats surely won't give up without a fight.
