Softball Recap: Case Picks Up Fourth Consecutive Victory

Case extended their winning streak to four on Monday, bumping their season record up to 14-4 in the process. Everything went their way against the Dighton-Rehoboth Regional Falcons as they made off with a 10-3 win. Considering the Cardinals have won 11 contests by more than five runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.

Lila Alvarez was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She struck out nine batters over seven innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off five hits. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 12 consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with two runs and one RBI.

In other batting news, Meghan Pereira was excellent, going 2-for-3 with two runs, one double, and one RBI. That's the most runs she has posted since back in April. Another player making a difference was Olivia Williams, who went 1-for-3 with two RBI, one run, and one double.

As for Dighton-Rehoboth Regional, their loss ended a nine-game streak of away wins and brought them to 20-2. The pitching woes were uncharacteristic for they, who until this match were averaging 2.05 runs allowed.

On Dighton-Rehoboth Regional's side, Cam Cloonan was cooking despite her team's loss, firing off two home runs, two stolen bases, and three runs while going 3-for-3.

Coming up, Case will welcome Norton at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Cardinals 2, the Lancers 2) so any runs scored will be well earned. As for Dighton-Rehoboth Regional, they will head out to face off against Bishop Feehan at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
