McCormick wins going away against Emerald

Recap: McCormick Chiefs vs. Emerald Vikings

The McCormick Chiefs scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Monday. They put the hurt on Emerald with a sharp 71-48 win. That looming 71-48 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for McCormick yet this season.

McCormick got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Terrence Cartledge out in front who scored 15 points along with six rebounds. The contest was Cartledge's third in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Dequincy Jennings, who scored 17 points along with five rebounds.

Several Vikings players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Kennan Marshall, who scored nine points along with five rebounds and four steals. Another player making a difference was Damarquis Hopkins, who scored six points along with eight rebounds.

Emerald struggled to work together and finished the game with only four assists. They were crushed by their opponents in that department as McCormick posted 13 assists.

The victory (which was McCormick's third in a row) raised their record to 4-1. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 62.3 points per game. As for Emerald, they now have a losing record at 1-2.

McCormick won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Ninety Six at 7:30 p.m. on December 5th. Ninety Six will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps South Carolina Rankings (they are ranked 211th, while McCormick is ranked 30th). As for Emerald, they will be playing at home against Strom Thurmond at 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
