Football Recap: ALA - Mesa North Comes Up Short

ALA - Mesa North was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their fifth straight defeat. They were a single point away from ending the streak, but they lost a 41-40 heartbreaker at the hands of the Coolidge Bears. On the bright side, the 40- point effort marked the Mavericks' highest-scoring matchup to date.

When it comes to explaining why ALA - Mesa North lost, don't look at Crew Germaine. Despite the final result, he threw for 325 yards and five touchdowns. Seth Allen was Germaine's top target, picking up 122 receiving yards and one TD.

ALA - Mesa North's loss dropped their record down to 2-5. As for Coolidge, they now have a winning record of 4-3.

ALA - Mesa North will have a little extra prep time after the defeat as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Apache Junction at 7:00 p.m. on the 17th. As for Coolidge, they are taking a road trip to challenge Pusch Ridge Christian Academy at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
