Basketball Recap: Leake County Extends Winning Streak to Three

Leake County had won two straight games and Daishone Turner did her part to make it three on Wednesday. The Leake County Gators really took it to the Mississippi School for the Deaf Bulldogs for the full four quarters, racking up a 55-22 victory thanks in part to Turner, who went 10 for 19 en route to 23 points along with eight assists and five rebounds. She has been hot for a while, having also posted two or more steals the last 22 times she's played.

Another player making a difference was Sy'Ariah Wraggs, who posted four points in addition to ten boards and seven steals. With that strong performance, she is now averaging an impressive 2.1 steals per game.

Mississippi School for the Deaf's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Chloe Johnson, who had six points, and Jarmariah Johnson, who put up five points.

Leake County is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven matches, which provided a massive bump to their 7-12 record this season. The wins came thanks to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 24.3 points per game. As for Mississippi School for the Deaf, they have been struggling recently as they've lost seven of their last nine contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 8-11 record this season.
