Volleyball Recap: Dynamic Duo of Chikanele Onukwugha and Hana Yoshimura Lead Guilford Park to Victory

Guilford Park won the last time they faced Hammond and things went their way on Monday too. The Panther put the hurt on the Golden Bears with a sharp 3-0 victory.

The match finished with set scores of 25-11, 25-9, 25-17.

Guilford Park was led to victory by Hana Yoshimura and Chikanele Onukwugha. Yoshimura had five digs and four aces, while Onukwugha hit 88.9% for 16 kills and five digs, five aces, and one block. Those 88.9% hitting percentage gave Onukwugha a new career-high.

They weren't the only good servers: Guilford Park was lethal from the service line and finished the match with 19 aces. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now served at least ten aces every time they've taken the court this season.

The win got Guilford Park back to even at 2-2. As for Hammond, they dropped their record down to 0-4 with the loss, which was their sixth straight at home dating back to last season.

Coincidentally, Guilford Park and Hammond will both be playing Howard the next time they take the court. The Panther will host the Lions at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday, while the Golden Bears will head out to face them at 6:00 p.m. on Monday.
