Mountain View and Branham are an even 3-3 against one another since March of 2015, but likely not for long. The Spartans will challenge the Bruins at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday. Neither of those teams managed to put together many runs in their previous contests, so the offenses might be a little more motivated than usual.

Mountain View is probably headed into the match with a chip on their shoulder considering Wilcox just ended the team's three-game winning streak on Wednesday. They took a 6-2 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Chargers.

Brennan Dooley was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he struck out six batters over six innings while giving up three earned (and three unearned) runs off nine hits (and not a single walk). He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Mountain View saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Kyle Shachal, who went 1-for-3 with two RBI.

Meanwhile, Branham entered their contest against Willow Glen on Friday without any home losses, but there's a first time for everything. The Bruins fell just short of the Rams by a score of 3-1. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest defeat the Bruins have suffered against the Rams since May 25, 2021.

This is the second loss in a row for Branham and nudges their season record down to 10-6. As for Mountain View, their loss dropped their record down to 12-6.

Mountain View was able to grind out a solid win over Branham when the teams last played back in March of 2020, winning 4-1. Do the Spartans have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Bruins turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
