Basketball Recap: Western Guilford Takes a Loss

Western Guilford was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their ninth straight defeat. They took a blow against the Northern Guilford Nighthawks, falling 65-15. The Hornets were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 45-11.

Ny'Asia Hunter was Western Guilford's leading scorer, having posted six points. Sasha Taylor held things down on the boards with five rebounds.

Northern Guilford's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Malena DeLisa, who went 5 of 8 en route to 11 points along with seven assists and five steals. DeLisa has been hot recently, having posted three or more steals the last four times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Cara Trippett, who went 6 for 10 to rack up 15 points.

Western Guilford's loss dropped their record down to 6-16. As for Northern Guilford, they have been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six contests, which provided a nice bump to their 14-6 record this season.

Looking ahead, Western Guilford and Southeast Guilford will meet in a classic East v. West matchup at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Northern Guilford, they will head out to square off against Page at 6:15 p.m. on Wednesday. Northern Guilford is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 57.4 points per game this season.
