Preview: Pierce Bluejays vs. Sidney Red Raiders
The Pierce Bluejays will head out on the road to face off against the Sidney Red Raiders at 3:00 p.m. on Friday. Pierce is looking to tack on another W to their four-game streak on the road.
Pierce put the finishing touches on their fifth blowout victory of the season on Friday. They put the hurt on Roncalli Catholic with a sharp 34-14 victory. With Pierce ahead 20-0 at the half, the matchup was all but over already.
Pierce's success was spearheaded by the efforts of Champion White, who rushed for 114 yards and a touchdown, and Keenan Valverde, who rushed for 187 yards and a touchdown. Valverde hasn't dropped below 100 rushing yards for seven straight games.
Meanwhile, Sidney didn't have too much trouble with Gothenburg at home on Friday as they won 28-14. The win made it back-to-back wins for Sidney.
Sidney's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Isak Doty, who rushed for 129 yards and a touchdown, and also threw for 127 yards and a touchdown while completing 87.5% of his passes. Another player making a difference was Luke Holly, who rushed for 149 yards and two touchdowns.
Their wins bumped Pierce to 8-2 and Sidney to 9-1.
