Basketball Recap: Freeport Puts Losing Streak Behind Them

Freeport had lost four straight headed into Thursday's match, but Jasmine Miles didn't let it get to five. The Freeport Bulldogs came out on top against the Ponce De Leon Pirates by a score of 55-43 on Thursday thanks in part to Miles, who dropped a double-double on 34 points and 16 boards. That's the most rebounds she has posted since back in December of 2023.

Emma Ludwig was another key player, putting up nine points along with seven boards and three steals. She is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last three games she's played.

Freeport's win bumped their record up to 8-16. As for Ponce De Leon, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 12-7.

Freeport wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 72-26 loss against Holmes County on the 31st. As for Ponce De Leon, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 31-25 victory against Bethlehem on the 4th.
