For the second straight game, Homer-Center will face off against Purchase Line. The Wildcats will host the Red Dragons at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. Homer-Center is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.2 runs per game this season.

Homer-Center came up short against Purchase Line on Wednesday, falling 16-6.

For Purchase Line's part, Rylee Mahaffey made a splash no matter where she played. She struck out seven batters over six innings while giving up just one earned (and five unearned) runs off one hit. Mahaffey was also big at the plate, scoring a run while going 2-for-4.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Kaitlyn Houser, who went 4-for-5 with one home run, six RBI, and four runs. That's the most runs she has posted since back in March of 2024. Another player making a difference was Brooklynn Walker, who went 3-for-5 with three runs, three RBI, and one triple.

Purchase Line always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .513. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Homer-Center only posted an OBP of .250.

Purchase Line's win was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 6-1. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 4.0 runs on average over those games. As for Homer-Center, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-2.

Thursday's matchup will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Homer-Center hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .353. However, it's not like Purchase Line struggles in that department as they've averaged .382. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
