Baseball Recap: Willits Victorious

Willits came out on top against Tomales on Tuesday thanks in part to the team's impressive four-run first inning. The Wolverines took their game against the Braves 6-1. The Wolverines haven't had any issues with the Braves recently, as the game was their third consecutive victory against them.

Corey Rockey was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Rockey was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with two RBI and one run.

In other batting news, Willits let Jayden Schlegel and Jakoby Kirby run wild. Schlegel got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two stolen bases and two runs, while Kirby went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI. Another player making a difference was Ivan Estrada, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with one stolen base and one run.

Willits' win was their first in the league, bumping their league record up to 1-2 and their overall record up to 4-5. As for Tomales, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 7-4.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming matchups. Willits will square off against Sonoma Academy at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Tomales, they will challenge Technology at 4:00 p.m. on Friday.
