Basketball Recap: Newton Takes a Loss

Newton was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their seventh straight defeat. They fell 42-31 to the Oskaloosa Indians. The Cardinals were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Indians earlier this season, when they won 36-29.

Newton's loss dropped their record down to 8-10. As for Oskaloosa, the victory got them back to even at 9-9.

Newton and Oskaloosa should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps Iowa Rankings. Newton will face off against Lincoln at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday up 156 places (148 vs. 304). Meanwhile, Oskaloosa (ranked 115th) will meet Knoxville (ranked 281st) at 6:00 p.m. on Monday.
