Softball Recap: Sherando Comes Up Short

It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact Sherando can now relate to. They fell just short of the Millbrook Pioneers by a score of 3-1 on Monday. That's two games in a row now that the Warriors have lost by exactly two runs.

Lilian Wray spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and one unearned) runs on eight hits and racked up eight Ks. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 13 consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Sophia Zimmerman was cooking despite her team's loss, going 1-for-3 with three stolen bases and one run. She is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged at least one in each of the last four games she's played.

This is the second loss in a row for Sherando and nudges their season record down to 15-6. Even worse, they were so close both times: the losses came by an average of only two runs. As for Millbrook, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record up to 11-13.

As of now, neither Sherando nor the Pioneers have any future games scheduled.
