Basketball Recap: Ascend Leadership Takes a Loss

Ascend Leadership was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their tenth straight loss. They had to suffer through a 70-33 loss at the hands of the Woods Charter Wolves. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Aviators of the 59-32 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in February of 2024.

Woods Charter was led to victory by Bhuvanesh Senthil and Alden Phelps. Senthil went 7 of 11 en route to 19 points and eight boards, while Phelps went 5 for 8 on his way to 14 points and four steals. Levi Haygood was another key player, putting up eight points and nine rebounds.

Ascend Leadership's loss dropped their record down to 3-11. As for Woods Charter, they pushed their record up to 9-5 with the win, which was their sixth straight at home.

Ascend Leadership will head out on the road to challenge Southern Wake Academy at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Woods Charter, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Discovery Charter School at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
