Volleyball Game Preview: Mobile Christian Leopards vs. Ocean Springs Greyhounds

The Mobile Christian Leopards will face off against the Ocean Springs Greyhounds at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. The two teams are sauntering into the matchup backed by comfortable wins in their prior games.

Mobile Christian barely beat UMS-Wright Prep the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Leopards put the hurt on the Bulldogs with a sharp 3-0 victory on Thursday. The Leopards haven't had any issues with the Bulldogs recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive win against them.

Mobile Christian walked away with the victory (and looked especially good in the first set). The final score came out to 25-9, 25-18, 25-20.

Mobile Christian relied on the efforts of Melissa Patel, who had 28 digs and seven assists, and Kensley Shanahan, who had ten digs and three aces. That's the most assists Patel has posted since back in October of 2024.

Meanwhile, Ocean Springs faced Our Lady Academy in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Tuesday. The Greyhounds blew past the Crescents 3-0.

Ocean Springs not only won, but also showed off some consistency: they kept Our Lady Academy between 15 and 17 points across their sets. The match finished with set scores of 25-17, 25-17, 25-15.

Ocean Springs' win bumped their record up to 35-5. As for Mobile Christian, their victory bumped their record up to 16-6.

Mobile Christian beat Ocean Springs 2-0 in their previous matchup back in October of 2024. Do the Leopards have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Greyhounds turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
