Football Game Preview: Chincoteague Ponies vs. Brunswick Academy Vikings

Chincoteague is 0-4 against Brunswick Academy since August of 2021 but things could change on Friday. The Ponies will square off against the Vikings at 6:00 p.m. The two teams are strolling into their games after big wins in their previous games.

Chincoteague is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They were the clear victors by a 46-25 margin over Greenbrier Christian Academy on Friday. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest win the Ponies have posted against the Gators since November 4, 2016.

It was another big night for Camaury Davis, who rushed for 157 yards and two TDs on only 15 carries. Chincoteague is undefeated when Davis posts 100 or more rushing yards, but 1-2 otherwise. Speaking of playmakers, who could forget Makoa Busquets, who went all the way with a kickoff return for a touchdown.

They were just one part of a punishing run game: Chincoteague was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 237 rushing yards. They are a perfect 3-0 when they've run for more than 200 yards.

Meanwhile, Brunswick Academy put another one in the bag on Friday to keep their perfect season alive. They blew past Rappahannock County 63-16. The matchup was all but wrapped up at the end of the third, by which point the Vikings had established a 40-point advantage.

Brunswick Academy's victory bumped their record up to 5-0. As for Chincoteague, their win bumped their record up to 4-2.

Chincoteague was taken down by Brunswick Academy 48-0 in their previous meeting back in September of 2024. Can the Ponies avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
