Softball Recap: Taft Finds Playoff Glory Versus Sherman Oaks CES

Taft extended their postseason success on Friday against Sherman Oaks CES. They blew past the Knights 17-4. 17 seems to be a good number for the Toreadors as the squad scooped up a victory with the same number of runs in their previous game.

Chiara Cioffi was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run over five innings pitched. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going a perfect 4-for-4 with four runs, one triple, and one stolen base. That triple marked the first that she has hit this season.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Alexandra Chase, who went 3-for-4 with one home run, six RBI, and three runs. Those three runs gave her a new career-high. Kimi Meneses was another key player, going 1-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI.

Taft hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. They are a perfect 5-0 when they post two or more strikeouts.

The win (which was Taft's third in a row) raised their record to 7-11. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.3 runs on average over those games. As for Sherman Oaks CES, their defeat was their first of the season and makes their record 19-1.

Taft didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next match, an 11-1 win against King/Drew on the 28th. Sherman Oaks CES does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
