Baseball Game Preview: Cloquet Lumberjacks vs. Duluth East Greyhounds

The Cloquet Lumberjacks will face off against the Duluth East Greyhounds at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. Neither Cloquet nor Duluth East posted many runs in their last games, so it might be the pitching crews that decide this one.

Thursday just wasn't the day for Cloquet's offense. They lost 7-0 to Superior on Thursday. The Lumberjacks just can't catch a break and have now endured three losses in a row.

Cloquet saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Luca Gentilini, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base. Jack Battaglia also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen base of the season.

Meanwhile, Tuesday just wasn't the day for Duluth East's offense. They took a 3-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of Superior on Tuesday. The matchup marked the first time this season in which the Greyhounds were not able to get on the board.

Duluth East's defeat dropped their record down to 1-4. As for Cloquet, their loss dropped their record down to 1-3.

Cloquet couldn't quite get it done against Duluth East in their previous matchup back in April of 2024 as they fell 7-4. Can the Lumberjacks avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
