Softball Recap: Weed Gets the Win

Weed posted their closest victory since March 19, 2024 on Friday. They skirted past the Redding Christian Lions 5-4. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Cougars also won the last time the pair played back in March of 2024.

Weed's win was truly a team effort as five different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Riley Dawson, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, three runs, and two RBI. That's the most runs Dawson has posted since back in April of 2024.

Weed hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now struck out at most four strikeouts in four consecutive games.

Weed's first victory this season bumped their record up to 1-5. As for Redding Christian, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 1-5-1.

Weed didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, a 16-1 loss against Portola on the 21st. As for Redding Christian, they have also already played their next matchup, a 14-3 defeat against Modoc on the 21st.
