Softball Game Preview: Detroit Eagles vs. Bowie Pirates

For the second straight game, Detroit will face off against Bowie. The Eagles will host the Pirates at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. Detroit is coming into the game on a three-game losing streak.

Detroit's usually-dominant pitching crew will be looking to make up for Tuesday's struggle, when Bowie hitters got past them. The Eagles lost 11-2 to the Pirates on Tuesday. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest defeat the Eagles have suffered since April 2, 2024.

For Bowie's part, Tatum Tyndell spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned runs on four hits and racked up 14 Ks.

On the hitting side, Chloe Pinkerton was incredible, going a perfect 4-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. Those four hits gave her a new career-high. Callie Allen was another key player, scoring two runs while going 3-for-4.

Pinkerton wasn't the only one making solid contact: Bowie kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. The Pirates are a perfect 5-0 when they post 11 or more hits.

Bowie has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 9-9 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.8 runs over those games. As for Detroit, their loss dropped their record down to 15-5.
