Basketball Game Preview: Patrick Henry Rebels vs. George Wythe Maroons

Patrick Henry is 0-4 against George Wythe since December of 2014 but things could change on Friday. The Patrick Henry Rebels will face off against the George Wythe Maroons. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

Patrick Henry is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Tuesday. Everything went their way against Parry McCluer as Patrick Henry made off with an 84-60 win. Winning may never get old, but the Rebels sure are getting used to it with their eighth in a row.

Meanwhile, George Wythe waltzed into their contest on Tuesday with 17 straight wins... but they left with 18. They blew past the Warriors 64-32. Given the Maroons' advantage in MaxPreps' Virginia basketball rankings (they are ranked 53rd, while the Warriors are ranked 211th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

George Wythe pushed their record up to 24-4 with the victory, which was their 12th straight at home. They've dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 37 points. As for Patrick Henry, their win bumped their record up to 26-3.

Patrick Henry took a serious blow against George Wythe in their previous matchup back in December of 2016, falling 99-26. Can Patrick Henry avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
