Baseball Game Preview: Luther Prep Phoenix vs. Johnson Creek Bluejays

The Luther Prep Phoenix will face off against the Johnson Creek Bluejays at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday.

Luther Prep is probably headed into the match with a chip on their shoulder considering Lake Country Lutheran just ended the team's three-game winning streak on Thursday. They fell 12-7 to the Lightning.

Michel Krebs and Lucas Martin stepped up to the plate in a big way. Krebs got on base in four of his five plate appearances with two runs and one stolen base, while Martin went 1-for-3 with two runs and one stolen base. The team also got some help courtesy of Micah Westendorf, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with one double and one RBI.

Meanwhile, Johnson Creek had already won three in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 13 runs) and they went ahead and made it four on Friday. They skirted past the Panthers 3-1.

Luther Prep's defeat dropped their record down to 7-14. As for Johnson Creek, their victory bumped their record up to 16-6.

Luther Prep came out on top in a nail-biter against Johnson Creek when the teams last played back in May of 2023, sneaking past 1-0. Do the Phoenix have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Bluejays turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
