Football Recap: Weiss Wolves vs. McNeil Mavericks
Weiss gave their fans exactly what they wanted out of a home opener on Thursday. They blew past the McNeil Mavericks 56-28. The Wolves have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Mavericks, too.

Weiss' victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Tre Moore, who picked up 136 receiving yards and three scores. Those three receiving touchdowns gave Moore a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Jayon Alexander, who rushed for 142 yards and a pair of TDs.
Weiss didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off four passes before the game was over. It was truly a group effort as Garrett Stennett, Noah Mcpeak, Kaiden Haynes Collins, and Jorian Guinn Jr picked up one apiece. Mcpeak has been hot, having also posted five or more total tackles the last eight times he's played. Haynes Collins got in on the action too, converting a pick into a touchdown.
Loss or not, McNeil got some senior leadership from Jarell Gary Jr and Zach Christie. Gary Jr gained 120 total yards and a touchdown, while Christie gained 106 total yards and a touchdown.
Weiss has already played their next contest, a 25-15 win against San Marcos on the 4th. As for McNeil, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next game, a 34-28 victory against Lake Belton on the 4th.
