Baseball Recap: South Beloit Sobos vs. Alden-Hebron Green Giants

South Beloit was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They fell just short of the Alden-Hebron Green Giants by a score of 6-5. South Beloit was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Alden-Hebron apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in April.

Jonah Martinez was huge while hitting and pitching even without the win. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching 6.1 innings while giving up just two earned (and four unearned) runs off five hits. Martinez was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-4 with a stolen base and two RBI.

In other batting news, JT Sanders and Jacob Wilhite stepped up to the plate in a big way. Sanders scored two runs while going 4-for-5, while Wilhite scored two runs and stole a base while going 3-for-4.

Even though they lost, South Beloit didn't let batters stay on the plate for long and finished the game with seven strikeouts. This was only their 11th loss (out of 16 games) when they post five or more strikeouts.
