Baseball Recap: Durant Comes Up Short

Durant has relied on a stalwart pitchers averaging 3.67 runs allowed per game, but that average took a hit on Monday. They lost 11-2 to the Northeast Rebels. The matchup marked the Wildcats' lowest-scoring contest so far this season.

Durant got a good showing from Brady Daufeldt, who tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits.

At the plate, Colby Gast made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and got on base in all four of his plate appearances with one stolen base and one run. He is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last four games he's played. Isaac Nielsen was another key player, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances.

This is the second loss in a row for Durant and nudges their season record down to 4-2. As for Northeast, they have started the season off flawlessly and has a 2-0 record to show for it.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Durant will venture away from home to take on Alburnett at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Wildcats 3.7, the Pirates 2.8) so any runs scored will be well earned. As for Northeast, they will head out to square off against Prince of Peace Prep at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
